Rational, High-Speed Production Process

Precision BioSciences’ DNE technology is the only known method to produce homing endonucleases with comprehensively redesigned cleavage specificities. The proprietary process is outlined above. Homing endonucleases with the desired DNA sequence specificity are produced by modifying the surface of a natural DNA-cleaving enzyme in the region responsible for DNA recognition. Protein modifications capable of producing such changes in DNA site recognition are stored in Precision BioSciences’ proprietary mutation database. The information contained in this database allows for rapid production of custom nucleases for any application without having to resort to time and labor intensive screening procedures.
