In February 2008, DuPont and Precision BioSciences announced the formation of a collaboration utilizing Precision's DNE technology to bring higher-yielding agricultural products to market faster. The technology allows DuPont business partner Pioneer Hi-Bred the ability to use DNE to introduce and stack multiple genes that accelerate product development in corn, soybeans and other important agricultural crops.

In September 2009, Bayer CropScience and Precision BioSciences announced the establishment of a partnership to create site-specific genome modifications in plants using Precision's DNE technology. The agreement provides Bayer with non-exclusive access to aspects of Precision BioSciences' proprietary technology which can be used by Bayer scientists to insert multiple genes at a single site within a plant chromosome and potentially accelerate a trait's time to market.

In November 2010, BASF Plant Science and Precision BioSciences announced the initiation of a collaborative agreement.  This agreement allows BASF non-exclusive access to aspects of Precision’s DNE technology for the development of advanced agricultural products.   Precision’s industry-leading technology will allow BASF to make site-specific genome modifications in plants, thereby efficiently and precisely conferring desirable traits into plant species.

What is DNE?

Precision BioSciences' Directed Nuclease Editor (DNE) is a robust platform for genome engineering based on the production of custom-made DNA-cutting enzymes called "DNE meganucleases.
